Saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy, but crafting a meaningful and beautiful funeral order of service can help bring comfort and structure during a time of grief.
A funeral order of service, sometimes referred to as a funeral programme, is a printed guide to the ceremony. It’s helpful for attendees, helping them follow the proceedings and can act as a lasting memory of the deceased. Creating a beautiful order of service is important for everybody involved with the ceremony, however, at an already difficult time, it can be incredibly stressful.
Here at The Funeral Printers, we’ve created a simple, online platform to take the stress away from you. With high standards in design and printing, you can create a beautiful and meaningful funeral order of service in just a few clicks – take a look at our how-to demo video guide at the top of our website!
What Does a Funeral Order of Service Include?
We offer a 4-page and an 8-page order of service book, you’re able to choose from a large selection of stunning designs – all you need to do is upload photos and fill out the information regarding the ceremony. Here’s what you can include in a Funeral order of service booklet
Introduction & Cover Page
The cover page is the first page guests will see, it is typically kept respectful and simple. Usually, the cover page will include a photo of the loved one, their name and any nicknames as well as their birth date and date of death. You may also choose to include the location of the service.
Centre Pages
The centre pages are the main bulk of the order of service booklet, containing information about the deceased and the service. These pages usually include the schedule of events that are taking place during the ceremony, such as songs, hymns and poems. Within these pages, you would include the lyrics to songs, poems and hymns so that guests can follow along easily. Here’s what the centre pages can include:
- A musical procession
- An introduction to the loved one
- Music, songs, poems and hymns
- Group prayers, hymns and music
- Readers & speakers
- Closing music.
Once you have the details of the service included, you may decide to also include any memories you wish to share with the guests. A funeral should be meaningful and unique to each individual and should be planned around them and their wishes.
Final Pages
The back pages of an order of service can include the exit music and lyrics and are used to express your thanks to all the guests who attended and those who couldn’t make the service but received a booklet. These pages are a nice way to close off the beautiful ceremony you’ve just had. Please note, the very back page of our order of service booklets just contain an image.
